ABOUT THE LOGO

| Logo/Web Site Design The Shango Films Inc. logo was created by filmmaker Andrew Millington and graphic and web designer Jamarhl Crawford of Prophecy Communications/Divine Design. Conceptual design for the company web site was provided by Annalee Babb. In the Yoruba tradition of West Africa, with its antecedents in ancient Egypt, Shango or sango, whose colors are red and white, is the orisha represented by lightning and thunder. As the orisha guarding the creative imagination one can interpret these respectively as picture and sound, key elements of the filmic image. The overarching bird represents the spirit of this orisha having traveled with the souls of African peoples across the Atlantic, where even today it survives and finds its boldest expression in the social, cultural and spiritual life of the Americas. The cross at the bottom of the logo resembling crossed swords or a double axe, is actually an image of twin bolts of metaphoric fire which bears the promise of moral vengeance. For the filmmaker this logo is a cultural symbol for positive social change throughout the African and its diasporic communities and the quest for social justice throughout the world. This is embodied in the statement "Water at the side of fire at the center of the sky. |
